Indian food and a bottle of wine
Last nite HB and I went in search for some Indian Food. They just opened a place nearby our home - but I tried to introduce Jacqui to Indian food there and it was terrible. Say no to Bollywood. So we came across a place listed in the New Times rag. They mentioned it would be hard to find - they werent kidding. Right off Ocean Ave and Oakland Park. Across from the beach - tucked away at the end of an empty strip mall with no parking to be had. We finally found it.
My nite was supposed to take place at the Wine and Design walk that my neighborhood throws once a month. For $12 you buy a glass and then they give you a map of different stores that you need to go visit to continue filling up your glass. In the meantime, they are hoping you will buy something at the stores. Or, maybe notice a store along the way that has just opened. Well, we havent been in a few months because the last time we went the crowd was huge. They were only giving sips of wine because they were running out (total jip). The huge groups of people made it hard to look at the shops wares. When you have a lot of folks in a small space with merchandise included. It makes for a bad night. So we have pretty much avoided it. But, I wanted to give in another try.
No go - HB suggested dinner. He has an interview coming up soon and he was excited about the potential of his new position. So - I sighed and asked where. I really wanted to drink and browse. It was a pretty nite out. I wanted to walk the streets like the barfly I am.
Now lets start with the fact that HB is particular about food. Not that he doesnt love it - he just doesnt like anything that has spice. He likes salt. But - spice is a different story. I guess when you have to take different meds for your stomach every night - I would be picky too.
But - he said Indian. I repeated him (just to make sure I heard him right). Yep - he said Indian.
Well - I am all in for that. I love Indian food. Not the spicy burn your mouth and stomach on the way down. I am talking flavorful. The combination of flavors in every bite you take. The different chutneys provided which cool your mouth and enchance the flavor of your meal. Mmmmm - so good!
HB was a trooper. I ordered very mild things (I am not crazy - I want him to go back) from Chicken Tandoori to Lamb Kebab. I fed him Nan bread stuffed with chicken and introduced him to mint chutney to take away the sting in his mouth. He also liked my fave dish of Eggplant Bharta. We had a bottle of wine - to take care of the boozehound in me. It was a lovely night and he liked it. So - I think I have a chance to maybe talk him into it again (crossing my fingers)
Now - if I can just get him to eat Thai Food.
